About Tyler Baker

Surveyor in Training & Assistant Real Time Virtual Reference Network Administrator | B.S in Geology | Outdoor adventurer & enthusiast. I have experience traveling the United States rock climbing, for outdoor exploration, and geological mapping. Mapping projects I was involved with are that of lava flows on Kilauea, Mauna Loa, and Green Sand Beach (GSB), Hawai’i as well as sedimentary units at Point Lobos, Wagon Caves, and Bean Hollow Beach, California. I aided measuring the change in elevation and lateral distance of exposed surfaces within the Koa’e fault system and sequence stratigraphy of lithological units associated with deep marine depositional environments. Created stratigraphic units of Point Lobos, Wagon Caves, Bean Hollow Beach, GSB and the Baraboo syncline along with conducting a structural analysis of the Baraboo syncline. Acquired academic skills include calculus, algebra, statistics, key geological observations, measuring strike and dip, sampling sediments, analyzing subaerial and subsurface water for its conductivity, contaminants, and acidity, as well as plotting and analyzing various forms of data on charts and graphs. Through my current and past research/employment endeavors I have gained the ability of creative problem solving, leadership, rule enforcement, working long days, operating heavy/complex machinery, lifting/hauling heavy objects, and to work with a friendly and upbeat attitude.
