About Tyler Evin

Tyler Evin was raised in West Fargo, ND. He earned his Bachelors of Fine Art in both Art Education and Studio Art with an Emphasis in Painting in 2016 from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Evin focuses on combining both abstract and figurative elements in his work. He draws inspiration from the fleeting nature of moments in time. Evin’s work balances between reality and the surreal, and explores psychological and emotive qualities related to individuals. His work has been selected into numerous group and juried exhibitions around the country. Most recently: 24th Annual Spring Gala Art Auction at the Plains Art Museum, The Great Winter Crow Show at the Spirit Room Art Gallery in Fargo, ND and the 64th Annual Midwestern exhibition at the Rourke Art Museum in Moorhead, MN. He currently resides and works in Houston, TX. Artist Statement: My inspiration lately is trying to capture these fleeting moments in time. Moments that have a sense of familiarity yet feel distant at the same time. Almost as if experiencing them again through an altered lens or perspective. My work balances between the figurative and the abstract. The intent with my work is to tell a narrative for the viewer by exploring psychological and emotive qualities related to individuals. I'm also interested in how a memory can change over time, and how these personal moments can be a shared experience. I believe these quiet, obscure glimpses from the past help inform new perspectives.
