About Tyler Freres

As Vice President of Sales at Freres Engineered Wood, I’ve had the opportunity to grow with an industry I’ve known since my earliest days—literally starting out cleaning grease from logging equipment in high school. Since 2004, I’ve worked directly in plywood manufacturing, and today I lead sales and sourcing for all veneer used in our veneer and plywood operations. I’m also proud to serve on our executive team, helping shape the long-term strategy and innovation trajectory of our company. My path has been hands-on from the start. Throughout college, I returned to Oregon each summer to work every job in the timber industry—from green chain and millwright to log scaling and road crew. I earned a B.A. in English Literature and a B.B.A. in Business Administration with a Finance minor from Southern Methodist University, and later attended Oregon State University’s College of Forestry. I also had the opportunity to live in France with my wife, Deana, while working toward my MBA. In 2016, I conceived of what would become our most groundbreaking product yet—Freres’s Mass Plywood Panel (MPP), a sustainable, high-performance material that redefines what’s possible with veneer-based engineered wood. I believe this industry is just getting started. Veneer and panel products have the potential to create some of the world’s greatest structures—more affordably and with far less environmental impact than traditional materials.
