About Tyler Harper
Roughly 6 years ago I transitioned from a GIS position on to a survey crew in the field covering construction staking, topographic, and boundary surveys. It was a big change in terms of the day-to-day, but the big picture overlaps a great deal with my previous Geography & GIS education and experience. In September 2019 my wife and I relocated to Seattle where I earned an Associate's degree in the land surveying program at Renton Technical College. Since graduation in June 2021 I have transitioned into a Land Surveying Technician role and in March 2023 I passed the Fundamentals of Surveying Exam. My plan is to continue supplementing my experience with time spent learning directly from highly experienced licensed surveyors to aid in gaining licensure, and to feed my own curiosity as I pursue land surveying as a career.
