About Tyler Huling

Four years in the U.S. Army I learned one of my biggest skills I could ask for and that is organized problem-solving. Alaskan terrain and weather brought its own challenge along with becoming a leader. Every challenge became a puzzle, every decision was a calculated risk when it came to your career in the United States Army. My role as a team leader was pre-combat inspections evolved from routine checks to intricate risk assessments. I learned to understand the importance of training and planning, then showed others how to adapt to the challenge that you run into while doing those two important tasks. Every training task became a learning lab, honing my ability to lead from an example, and lead my team. Leaving the Army wasn't a departure from problem-solving – it was a translation. My military training transcended and changed into the role of construction. At Lumos and Associates, I helped put these skills into construction, I ran into logistical hurdles and demanding deadlines. As an Inspector Intern, I wasn't just standing around waiting for the job to be done; I was understanding problems with the crews, talking to the subcontractor, and listening to their expertise to optimize project execution. As a Project Manager Intern. I learned what Managing material procurement took and how to help with spreadsheet for the quantities; this was for the right supplies arrived at the right time, keeping the materials on time and not over lapping. Then Identifying and securing subcontractors wasn't a matter of phone calls; was a tool to understand how things work and how important communication can be.
