Background

About Tyler Hutton

I was only 18 years old when I decided to start a career with Tesla motors. I saw it as an opportunity to join a company that was growing at a promising rate. I knew it would come with unfavorable hours and sometimes long work weeks, but knowing how hard working and determined I was I believed I could work my way up to a higher role as a I built more experience with the company. Low and behold, after working there for just over a year I got my first promotion to a Lead Technician where I became responsible for managing a team of about 22 technicians. When it came to managing the team, I was responsible for building a scheduled rotation for different tasks, training new employees and making any repairs that were needed as cars moved down the factory line. After a couple years, I decided to accept a role as a technician at Proterra Inc. Proterra Inc. was a up and coming company that was hoping to lead a new market in making electrical battery powered buses. After working here for almost two years I was happy with my experience but not quite fulfilled so, I decided to pack my bags and move to San Diego to change my role to an Appliance Repair Technician for Asurion. This role suited me better. As a person who enjoys communicating with people, being inside someone's home fixing their appliances was a great way to take advantage of that. I truly enjoyed how black and white the job seemed to be. You either can fix the appliance, or you can't, and my customers were always happy with me because I always worked hard to give them the best solution. Asurion was unable to successfully maintain the appliance repair department and unfortunately, had to stop all operations in San Diego. This led me to look into becoming a pilot. I was fully determined and after a lot of research I decided to join ATP Flight School to obtain all my certificates and become a flight instructor to build hours until eventually, I could go to the airlines. I finished ATP Flight School in just under a year and obtained all seven certifications. After completing ATP Flight School, I immediately applied to different Flight Instructor roles and quickly heard back from California Flight Academy. After interviewing, I was offered a position and started as the primary instructor to five students as well as teaching a ground class two hours a day, five days a week for eight weeks. Since starting, I've excelled and was offered a role as a Check Instructor, where I examine students and either pass or fail them based off their performance in a stage check which consists of a oral and flight.
