About Tyler Monaghan

I'm a software developer, tool builder, and experienced educator! At the Center for Tech and Civic Life, I help build and maintain the digital tools that our Civic Information Team members use in their daily work. Together, we are helping to inform voters and make the US election system more fair and secure. I was formerly the Chicago Metro History Fair (now History Day) Manager at the Chicago History Museum where I helped connect junior and senior high school students with history through inquiry. Prior to this role, I earned my Master's Degree in Digital Humanities, an interdisciplinary program where I learned foundational programming and software engineering skills and applied them to historical and literary questions. Together with my wonderful colleagues in the Digital Humanities program, we also hosted a day conference on Digital Accessibility. Before earning my MA I was a classroom teacher in Chicago at an alternative high school for students seeking a second chance at earning their high school diploma. I taught social studies and career readiness courses here.
