About Tyler Pope

I am a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics and a focus on sustainability, energy, and the environment. I have a passion for applying my technical skills and knowledge to address real-world challenges and create positive impacts. As a vegetation crew leader at Rocky Mountain Conservancy, I led and mentored a team of five technicians in natural resource management projects, such as monitoring and controlling invasive plant species and restoring native ecosystems. I was responsible for conducting daily job hazard analyses, debriefs, and project accomplishment reporting, as well as creating periodic duty delegation schedules, incident reports, and peer evaluations. Furthermore, I collected, organized, analyzed, and interpreted quantitative and GIS and GPS field data culminating in the production of comprehensive written and visual reports. Previously, I worked as an applied industrial environmental systems researcher at the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center, where I conducted research and maintained a pilot size greenhouse algae wheel wastewater treatment facility designed for municipal upscaling. I performed laboratory sample collection and large data set analysis to determine system productivity and efficiency, while adhering to biosafety level two protocol. I applied advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in civil, biological, and environmental engineering to optimize facility productivity within a dynamic environment. Additionally, I played a key role in developing, implementing, and assessing novel projects and structures tailored to the requirements of the US Department of Energy and principal investigators. I have a knack for scientific communication, whether through oral presentations or written documentation, and I am proficient in collecting samples and conducting field and laboratory tests. I shine when working autonomously or as a valuable contributor to a dynamic and collaborative team. I possess practical problem-solving abilities and employ a transformative leadership style.
