About Tyler Rivers

m a cybersecurity student at the University of Cincinnati pursuing a combined B.S./M.S. degree in Cybersecurity. My academic path is matched by hands-on experience in areas like network defense, secure system administration, and ethical hacking. I’ve worked on real-world security projects, including deploying Cowrie honeypots on Raspberry Pi, self-hosting services like Nextcloud and Vaultwarden with Docker and NGINX, and setting up HTTPS access with reverse proxies. I also have experience with firewalls, Linux administration, and managing cloud resources. I’m currently part of a cybersecurity co-op through the National Centers of Academic Excellence (NCAE), where I’ve collaborated with industry professionals, practiced incident response strategies, and built strong communication skills in high-pressure environments. My career goal is to work in cybersecurity operations or infrastructure security — ideally in a role where I can protect and harden systems, analyze threats, and contribute to secure IT environments.
