About Tyler Thorp

With a Ph.D. in Higher Education from The University of Arizona, I bring a multidisciplinary background that bridges academic research, entrepreneurial education, and community development. I’ve taught and designed courses like Entrepreneurial Leadership in Agriculture and Principles and Applications of Organizational Innovation, with a particular focus on accessible and engaging online instruction. My professional experience includes managing large-scale community initiatives and developing programs that support local and regional resilience—particularly in agriculture, food systems, and education. I’m especially passionate about translating research into real-world solutions that support underrepresented communities and systems-level innovation. As a published researcher, my work explores themes at the intersection of the local food movement, place-based identity, and visual storytelling in retail environments. I’ve presented at national conferences and remain committed to leveraging research and public service for long-term community impact. Now transitioning into applied policy research, I’m excited to bring my analytical and systems-thinking skills to support public institutions in developing data-informed, equity-driven policies.
