About Tyra Beamon

Tyra Beamon is a transformational change agent committed to transforming systems to be more effective in meeting the needs of those impacted. As an advocate she seeks to engage the community and honors lived experience as expertise when developing creative solutions which move our society toward equity and social justice. She graduated from Tuskegee University, earning her BA in English, and she is currently a graduate student in Georgetown University’s MA in Educational Transformation program studying Advocacy and Policy. She has worked as a teacher, student advocate, and served as an Americorps member. Her experience working in schools, local government, and the non-profit sector has given her perspective and an understanding of the needs and challenges faced by youth in America. Tyra is deeply committed to creating opportunities for youth and communities to thrive and reach their full potential. She is passionate about empowering youth and communities to advocate from the front lines and influence transformation and liberation personally and for their communities.
