About Tyra Washington

I love what I do with a passion. As a Program Administrator, I get to work with amazing non-traditional students through our partnership with Cuyahoga Community College. Initial conversations are had via email or in-person meetings. In these meetings, we unveil their values, academic goals, personal and professional aspirations, and career pathways. I then use this information to map out resources that will bridge the gap between their community college experience with their new liberal arts/four-year institution experience. During their involvement with the Mentorship for Student Excellence Program, students are introduced to beneficial workshops such as financial literacy, work-life balance, and mindfulness. The program also offers student mentors for peer support. I am goal-driven and passionate about my students' personal and academic success. Their growth throughout the program has been my greatest accomplishment thus far, aside from growing and enhancing my skills. My job has allowed me to gain experience in project management, program administration, supervising and has enhanced my skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving. When I’m not aiding students through their college experience or planning workshops, I’m finding peace in the gym or music, rewatching every single season of The Office, or researching ways to enhance my professionalism.
