About Ujal Ibrahim

Dr. Ujal Ibrahim is an Assistant Professor and Course Lead in the MBA program at University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver, Canada. His research focuses on refugee entrepreneurship and economic development, ESG initiatives, social innovation, and the integration of AI in social innovation. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Utah, a master’s from Texas Christian University (TCU), and a bachelor’s from Brigham Young University (BYU). He also completed two years of CPA preparatory training in Professional Accounting at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Before joining UCW, Dr. Ibrahim taught at Dickinson State University (DSU) in North Dakota, where he also served as a Business Advisor to the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). He supported entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and mission-driven enterprises in strengthening marketing, financial management, and operations, while helping them adapt and recover during the COVID-19 crisis. His work contributed to fostering sustainable and socially responsible local economies. Dr. Ibrahim actively advocates for sustainability, social impact, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) through his teaching, research, and community engagement. He volunteered with the Yunus Centre, led by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, and was inspired by its New Entrepreneurs program to establish a similar entrepreneurial platform in Salt Lake City, Utah, supporting refugees and immigrants. He also served as a faculty member at North South University (NSU), the #1 ranked private university in Bangladesh. As an invited speaker at international conferences in different parts of the world, Dr. Ibrahim continues to promote inclusive and sustainable business practices. Outside academia, he pursues music as a passion, having performed as a vocalist in several rock bands, and enjoys traveling, cricket, and soccer.
