About Ulises Teyes

They say find something you love to do, and you will never work a day in your life. Well, I suppose you can say I have not worked over the last decade. I thoroughly enjoy what I do as an educated clinician and proven leader in the prehospital industry working in various facets and capacities. With a strong background in training, I understand the value of standardized process and safety to work cohesively as a well-oiled machine. Over the last decade I have learned the importance and value in customer service in the prehospital setting, it is not always about our efficient medicine, sometimes it is about holding hands and fluffing pillows. In my most recent role I have learned the value in team cohesion and applied my skills to build an effective leadership team and rallied our field personal to achieve a common goal. During my tenure I increased the call volume and revenue every month I was in charge. I assisted in the expansion of our fleet by 26% to accommodate for our call volume and to replace older units. Due to the call volume, we nearly doubled our field staff personnel. In addition to this, I simultaneously have worked per diem for the SFFD in a paramedic capacity. My previous experience has taught me the skills necessary to manage at a large scale covering nearly 20 counties and close to 1k employees. Clear and effective communication is crucial to maintain an adequate span of control as well as keeping your eyes and ears open to maintain a strong pulse of the wants and needs of the personnel and company. Working Fire, EMS, ER, and volunteer has offered me well rounded skills that provide me the knowledge of a patients journey from start to finish. My claim to fame is still the award I won in high school as class clown. Although my mother was not very proud of such nomination, to me it was important to maintain friendships and giving everyone a reason to smile. To this day friendship and loyalty are huge for me. On my off time I enjoy anything outdoors and travel. The organic relationships built in meeting new people across the world are humbling and give life perspective and understanding. Snowboarding down a mountain or rappelling through a ravine give a sense of life and freedom that I enjoy thoroughly. A proud mention is being a father to the smartest and kindest and insightful little girl I have ever met.
