Ph.D. in microbiology/molecular biology 1997 from Göteborg (Gothenburg) University, Sweden. Studied bacteria growthrate and plasmid transer in vivo in the intestinal tract of germ-free, streptomycin treated, and conventional mice. Experiments performed at Karolinska Institute, Stochkholm, and Denmark's Technical University, Denmark. Post. doc at University of Maryland, Baltimore, and University of California San Diego, 1998-2002. Searched for Vibrio cholera genes specifically induced by attachment to human eptihelial cells. Whole cell genome library fused to gfp created and attached to epithelial cells. After harvest, the vibrio cholera cells were sorted in Fluroescent Activated Cell Sorter. Assistant Research Scientist at University of California San Diego, 2002-2004. Studied the genetic diversity of the double stranded RNA phage phi6 from various locations over the country. Assistant Project Scientist, Associate Specialist, Full Specialist, 2004-present. By microfluidic microscopy, studying aging of single cell by following mother to daughters through hundreds of divisions.
