About Ulla Saastamoinen

I work as a Project Manager in a large-scale teacher professional development initiative focused on the Middle East. This international project aims to strengthen educational practices by bringing together research-based Finnish pedagogy and local expertise to support teachers' continuous learning and student wellbeing. My professional interests revolve around the future of schooling, children’s wellbeing, innovative learning environments, and team teaching. I hold a Master’s degree in Education and currently work with my Pd.D in Education. My doctoral research explores children's wellbeing and active learning in future-oriented schools. In addition to my work as school-based teacher educator in UEF teacher training school and academic work, I’m involved in Global Education within the Philosophical Faculty at the university. Outside of my main role, I also work as an educational consultant for a company called Mumedu Oy, which I co-founded with friends. Mumedu focuses on 21st-century pedagogical solutions, including team teaching, student wellbeing, and the design of innovative learning environments. Beyond work, I enjoy a variety of hobbies including curling, swimrun, singing, and traveling. I have a background as a flight attendant and have lived abroad for several years, which has deepened my appreciation for different cultures and global perspectives. I love exploring the world, working across borders, and connecting with people from all walks of life
