About Ulrika Hedman

Ulrika Hedman, PhD, is a senior lecturer/assistant professor at Scool of Economics, Business and IT, University West, Sweden, and head of the Division of Media Production. She is also affiliated to the Dept. of Communication, Quality Management and Information Systems at Mid Sweden University. In 2022–2024, she held a position as researcher at the Mid Sweden University, and worked in a project at Demicom on the digital transformation of journalism and the media industry. She holds a PhD from the Dept. of Journalism, Media and Commication at the University of Gothenburg (thesis:#InFlux. Journalists’ adoption of social media and journalists’ social roles (2019)). She has published several journal articles, book chapters, and reports, and has presented her work at leading international conferences as well as for a general public. Among recent publications is the book ”Mittmedias vägval”, co-authored with Ingela Wadbring, Jonas Harvard, Catrin Johansson and Lars Nord (Nordicom 2024, in Swedish only) on the digital disruption of local news media. From 2024, she is a member of the Gothenburg division (non-medical research) of the Swedish Ethical Review Authority. Preciously, she has worked as a journalist in (foremost) local news.
