About Uttam Ghosh

Uttam Ghosh joined Meharry Medical College as an associate professor of cybersecurity in the School of Applied Computational Sciences in January 2022. Earlier, he worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Vanderbilt University, where he was awarded the 2018 – 2019 Junior Faculty Teaching Fellow (JFTF). Dr. Ghosh obtained his Master’s of Science and doctorate in electronics and electrical communication engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India in 2009 and 2013 respectively. He has post-doctoral experiences at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Fordham University and Tennessee State University.Dr. Ghosh has published more than 80 papers at reputed international journals including Transactions, Elsevier, Springer, IET, Wiley, InderScience and IETE, and also in top international conferences sponsored by ACM, and Springer. Dr. Ghosh has conducted several sessions and workshops related to Cyberphysical Systems (CPS), SDN, IoT and smart cities as co-chair at top international conferences including GLOBECOM 2020-2021, MASS 2020, SECON 2019-20, CCNC 2021, and ICDCS 2017. He has also served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member at renowned international conferences.Dr. Ghosh is associate editor of Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences and International Journal of Computers and Applications. He is also a reviewer for international journals including Transactions, Elsevier, Springer and Wiley. He serves as a guest editor for special issues with Sensors, Journal of IoT(IoTJ), Transaction on Industrial Informatics (TII), Journal of Health Informatics (JBHI), Transaction on Network Science and Engineering (TNSE), ACM Transactions on Internet Technology (TOIT), Elsevier ComCom, CAEE, Springer MTAP, Wiley ITL, MDPI Sensors, and FI. Dr. Ghosh has coedited and published four books on Internet of Things and Secure Smart Environments, Machine Intelligence and Data Analytics for Sustainable Future Smart Cities, and Efficient Data Handling for Massive Internet of Medical Things. He is co-editing five books on Smart IoT, Security, and Data Analysis with CRC Press and Springer. He is a senior member of the and a Professional member of ACM and Sigma-Xi. His Research Interests includes Cybersecurity, 5G Networks, Software-Defined Networking, Internet of Things and Cloud Computing and Machine Learning. Dr. Ghosh has delivered 15 invited talks in India, USA and Singapore on Cybersecurity related topics.
