About V. James Dickson

Jim Dickson is an experienced Florida attorney practicing with the national Firm of Adams and Reese LLP in its Tampa office. His practice focuses on legal business issues in the construction, real estate, finance and manufacturing industries. He often refers to himself as a “dirt problem lawyer” due to his long experience in construction and environmental law. He prides himself on assisting clients to anticipate, avoid and solve problems before they create legal conflict. Jim is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Stetson Law School where he teaches "Environmental Hazards of Real Property". Jim has had an AV ® Preeminent Rating by Martindale Hubbell since 1996 and been recognized in Florida Super Lawyers® since 2006, as well as Best Lawyers® since 2009. Best Lawyer® also recognized Jim as Lawyer of the Year for Construction Law for St Petersburg FL for 2023. Jim represents owners, contractors and suppliers in all aspects of construction law from contract negotiation to dispute resolution and litigation. He also represents businesses, land owners and banks concerning environmental issues involving Superfund sites, industrial discharges, waste disposal and contaminated properties, RCRA compliance and related issues. He further represents clients in matters concerning land use, title, commercial litigation and general business and corporate transactions. Jim also has a strong commitment to community service. He serves as General Counsel and member of the Executive Committee of the St Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as a long time pro bono volunteer, Board Member and President of the Community Law Program, a local legal aid organization. He has also served as a board member of many other organizations. In 2018, The St Petersburg Bar Foundation recognized Jim with a “Heroes Among Us Award”. In 2024 Parc Center for Disabilities recognized Jim as “Visionary of the Year” for his pro bono assistance in the development of its Learning Center. He also has joined the Parc Board.
