About V. Padmanand

An acknowledged global expert on Cluster Value-Chain and Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Agri-business and livelihood sector development. He is an alumnus of the University of Cambridge, U.K. and also the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has secured several National awards including the Nehru, Ambedkar (declined) and the ORS Award. Padmanand has led interventions in and related to over 25 countries including India, Namibia, Timor-Leste, Sri Lanka, Comoros / Madagascar, Sudan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Myanmar, Cambodia, the Philippines, Austria-Vienna, United Kingdom-London, France-Paris, Kenya, Sharjah, Dubai, the Netherlands, and Indonesia. He has over 30 years of experience in implementing cluster value-chain, entrepreneurship development, agri-business, livelihoods and FPO related development programmes as International Expert and Team Leader for Governments, United Nations (UN) organizations such as the UNIDO (Vienna), the United Nations Development Programme, International Fund for Agricultural Development (Rome), International Labour Organization (Geneva), World Bank, ADB (Manila), German Technical Co-operation (GiZ), Commonwealth Secretariat (UK), African Development Bank (AfDB), and the Department for International Development (DFID, UK) etc. He had also published over 12 books documenting successful professional experience and knowledge tools developed. He has evolved and or guided establishment of 100s of common facilities and industrial parks in India and other countries on mode amounting to investment of at least USD 1 Billion. His publications have been deployed to train and guide of Cluster Development Facilitators, MSME BDS providers, Entrepreneurs, Farmer Producer Organisations and government functionaries across the Developing World. He has also served as member of several Planning Commission (GoI)- working groups. He has also been awarded for "Outstanding Academic Contribution" for his teaching initiatives in Business Schools.
