About Vacha Patel

In the Summer of 2019, I shadowed my first pediatric heart/lung surgery on an 8-month infant. I walked the surgery from the preparation to the post up in the lab. From then and on, my academics, extracurriculars, and volunteering projects show my aspirations to become a pediatric surgeon.Currently, I am a Junior at UMD, College Park, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in General Biology and a minor in Nanoscience and technology. This is my medical school development portfolio that I would like to use to track the volunteering, research, and shadowing I conducted towards my goal. From research studies to presentations, this portfolio shows evidence of my interest in the medical field. Along with many medical research papers, I have also included projects that show my adaptability to teamwork, designing, creative writing, and leading a change in women's health.I would like to use this portfolio to seek a position as a scribe/research assistant at a Doctor's office or hospital department shadow. I am also actively interested in shadowing doctors to gain more knowledge and utilize my skills.
