About Vadim Iahnenco

I graduated from Seneca College with an Advanced Diploma in Biotechnology Research and from York University with a Bachelor of Science Specialized Honours in Biotechnology. In addition, I also completed the Genetics Technology program from The Michener Institute of Education at UHN, which provided me the skills and experience to pursue a career as an MLT in molecular genetics and cytogenetics. I gained valuable skills pertaining to these fields which include tissue culture, chromosome analysis, DNA extraction, and hands on experience for various molecular genetics based tests. My previous work experience consisted of performing various veterinary medical diagnostics for pets, including DNA extraction from various samples such as blood and sputum for PCR analysis, performing multiple antigen detection based tests, blood analysis through hematology, and microbiology culturing. I am currently working at The Hospital for Sick Children as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in Genome Diagnostics where some of my responsibilities include validating sample identifiers as provided by physicians, process patient DNA samples for specialized DNA analyses, and review clinical diagnostic reports for variant interpretation.
