About Vaishali Singhal

I have been described as “having grace under pressure.” During my career I have developed a unique of style academic leadership for both faculty and students. I work in a collegial manner with my peers yet am able to accomplish things through a style that is thoughtful, collaborative and respectful. It is because of this demeanor and style, that I have been able to enhance the faculty experience of those I supervise and mentor. I use a similar style with students as well. Most of the students I work with are from diverse groups; most are underrepresented populations and/or 1st generation students. I treat each student as an individual and work with them so they may achieve their goals of completing their education. My goal is to graduate competent students with tangible skills so that they may obtain gainful employment. As a result, I have enhanced the student experience by providing them with the support they need to succeed as they complete their program. Select experiential highlights include: Currently serve as Associate Professor & Program Director for Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences & as Associate Professor at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM). Partner in designing strategic plans that are harmonious with the departmental, school, and University mission and vision, & oversee the development of policies & procedures that improve operations for students, faculty, & administration. Successful in hiring, leading, and developing faculty members, evidenced by service on the SHP’s Committee on Appointments & Promotions, supervising upwards of 10 instructors. Served as Program Director for Master of Science in Health Sciences Aging track at Rutgers School of Health Professions (SHP) Served as interim Program Director, Associate Professor & Faculty Practice Dentist - Dept. of Allied Dental Education (ADE), School of Health Professions (SHP), Rutgers University Extensive scholarly activity as demonstrated by my research and publications RSDM course director for Practice Management & Ethics. Served as Co-Investigator on the Special Populations Interprofessional Care Experiences (SPICE) grant. Serve as consultant on the interprofessional Integrated Care Grant with University Behavioral Health (UBHC).
