About Valerio Pellirossi

Valerio Pellirossi is the Director of Confcooperative Habitat. He has a long experience in the cooperative economy and social enterprises, having held various roles of responsibility at national and European level. He has a profound knowledge of Italian and EU policies. Expert in social impact and impact finance, he coordinated the launch of the national platform for the social reports of Confcooperative. In the past, he was a member of the board of directors of the Gino Mattarelli CGM cooperative group, as well as active in numerous associations at local and European level. Among the most recent initiatives, he created the SCIS – Social Cooperatives International School – the first global b2b event dedicated to social cooperatives; he accompanied the positioning of social cooperatives in the circular economy, in particular in the textile industry; he oversaw industrial relations with trade unions and renewals of the CCNL of social cooperatives; he coordinated the sectors of work inclusion social cooperatives, with special focus on inclusion of prisoners. He was among the authors of the CECOP reports “Cooperatives care! Advantages of the cooperative model for meeting multiple care-related needs and challenges in the EU” and “Lasting impact: Measuring the social impact of worker and social cooperatives in Europe: focus on Italy and Spain”. Over the years, Pellirossi has contributed to the creation of numerous research and publications, including: “Cooperatives, territories, jobs – twenty experiences of cooperatives active in industry and services across Europe” (V. Pellirossi, B. Roelants, O. Biron, CECOP publications 2011); “Atlante della cooperazione sociale italiana” and “Atlante Italia 2020”, “Cooperative sociali e inserimento lavorativo di persone svantaggiate” (P. Moro, L. Gili, L. In the early during his studies he was involved in the start-up of social cooperatives and voluntary associations. He has been a trainer and coordinator of international mobility programs dedicated to the inclusion of disabled and disadvantaged people.
