About Vallery Black

With over 16 years of experience in firefighting and public safety, I am currently an Acting Captain at Toronto Fire Services, where I lead and supervise a team of firefighters in responding to various emergencies, such as fires, medical calls, hazardous materials, and rescues. I also ensure the safety, training, and performance of my crew, as well as the maintenance and operation of the fire apparatus and equipment. Prior to becoming an Acting Captain, I was a Firefighter at the same organization, where I performed various firefighting and emergency duties, such as fire suppression, ventilation, forcible entry, extrication, and first aid. I have a Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training certificate from Algonquin College, and I am proficient in various firefighting techniques, tools, and protocols. My core competencies include leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making. I am passionate about serving and protecting the community, and I strive to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and excellence in my field. I am always eager to learn new skills, collaborate with diverse colleagues, and contribute to the mission and vision of Toronto Fire Services.
