About Vanessa Ames

What began as a consulting role a little over a year ago has become a full-time position where I continually witness the importance of the strategy, as the master plan, bringing creative to life. As the Chief Strategy and Chief Creative Officer for DECODE, I have the opportunity to work with incredibly bright-minded people who continuously seek the “why” behind everything they do. I’ve been a lot of places in my career—from Atlanta, Georgia, to New York City to where I am now—and it is always the clients that drive my work forward. Up until working at DECODE, I have been on the client-side of the work, making sure they’re satisfied with the work my company produces for them. The big takeaway I have from these roles is being a strategic thinker. There is no purpose without a strategy behind the work you do. Data is not an end point; insights are. Our goal at DECODE is to operate in a realm we call “The White Space,” a unique place in between all the clutter of the world. The White Space turns data into intuitive human understanding that makes a difference now. It’s called “insight.” Besides strategy, another huge part of my heart is my family. Being a mom to young twins has changed my life; I’ve realized just how messy it can all be. But with that, I know that there is always light amidst the mess that can never be dimmed. They also inspire me to face the uncomfortable conversations head-on and have meaningful and necessary conversations about oft-overlooked topics, on my journey to continue humanizing social media.
