About Vanessa Benson

I am a passionate and dedicated student and professional in the field of critical disability studies, with a strong interest in allyship, inclusion, and education. I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Critical Disability Studies at York University, where I explore the social, cultural, and political dimensions of disability and madness. In addition to my academic pursuits, I also work as an Adapted Recreation Program Instructor and an Inclusion Support Staff at the City of Richmond Hill, where I facilitate and support recreational activities for people with diverse abilities and needs. I have also gained teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant at King's University College, where I assisted in two courses related to disability and mad studies. Through these roles, I have developed and demonstrated my interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as my commitment to creating accessible and empowering spaces for all.
