About Vanessa Edmonds

With over 35 years experience in the cultural heritage industry in Australia and overseas Vanessa is a Full Member of AACAI. Government positions include Site Registrar (Archaeology Branch, Brisbane), Tutor (Aboriginal Programs Branch, Department of Employment, Education and Training, NSW). State Archaeologist, Department of Environment and Planning, Adelaide); Zone Archaeologist,(Western Region, National Parks and Wildlife Service (OEH), NSW); Project Archaeologist (Aboriginal Victoria, Melbourne); Trainer & Assessor (Certificate Land Conservation and Management) for Victorian Aboriginal communities (RMIT & AV, Melbourne). Vanessa operated her own archaeological consulting busines for 26 years from Mildura in northwest Victoria undertaking Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage consultancies for private operators, government agencies and Aboriginal communities in South Australia, Victoria, NSW, and Queensland. Jacobs undertake cultural heritage assessments nationally and internationally servicing government clients and those in the private sector. Vanessa was Principal at Jacobs and Technical Director - Archaeology & Cultural Heritage, also Technical Leader for Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessments. As such Vanessa was responsible for the accuracy and quality of all cultural heritage deliverables and for growing the cultural heritage technical area within and outside the company. Under Vanessa's guidance the archaeology team grew to over 15 archaeologists across four offices. Vanessa was Principal at Artefact Heritage Services Pty Ltd (Sydney) for 18 months providing mentoring and professional development to Artefact Heritage consultants spe undertaking quality and compliance reviewing and provision of advice to clients and staff. Currently Principal at Everick Heritage Consultants Pty Ltd heading up the Sydney Office and assisting Everick with the professional development of their heritage teams in other offices.
