About Vanessa Farley

Since leaving school I have consistently been employed - with the exception of August 2007 to September 2008 when I choose to take time off to get my head around motherhood! The nature of the industries I have chosen have meant that work is often freelance, shifts, contract, run of show etc. This forced me to be flexible, proactive and organised with my calendar and budgeting. My TV assignments often over-lapped, for example I would do pre-prep for one show, and whilst waiting for that production to start would be offered another role in the interim. My reputation as loyal and hard-working has meant that almost all work has been through word of mouth. I am known as someone who loves being part of a team but can also work independently/remotely, gets along with people on all levels and will almost always be found with a notepad and a few different coloured pens. Worthy to note: I took time away from career to focus on family, starting my own business so that I could be around more for our young children. This stretched to 9 years owning my own business where I developed new skills and honed other skills that I have been able to take on to my new roles - building long-term relationships with clients and suppliers, customer service with a broad range of people (culturally-diverse, wide age range, and many sleep deprived :)) face-to-face, on the phone and email; bravely reinventing ways to showcase and promote new products; delving into the world of social media marketing and advertising and on a more rewarding and personal level learning how important community, connection and compassion are to me.
