To me, water is at the center of environmental and social justice, gender equality, climate change, education and economic advancement. By tackling water related issues, we tackle so much more. This is why, coming from a technical background with geology, hydrogeology and environmental sciences, I also wanted to understand social and economic aspects in a more in depth way. Through my thesis at VU Amsterdam I gained a greater understanding of Gender and Development and how the (lacking) availability affects women and girls.This brought me to the humanitarian sector, currently the Austrian Red Cross, where I gained international experience and the opportunity to establish a network for WASH practitioners and those from related fields to share their experiences, knowledge and learnings.
