Vanessa is a leading expert in the practical application of the psychology of wellbeing and resilience (aka 'positive psychology'). She makes the science come alive and practical to apply to support psychological sustainability in workplaces around the world. She is a thought leader, author, sought after keynote speaker, organisation consultant, designs and runs workshops nationally and internationally. She is regularly quoted or featured in the media including: Sunday Telegraph, FT, Sunday Express, The Guardian, The Metro, BBC Radio 4 and BBC and Sky TV. Her work has featured in numerous magazines and she was a columnist for Psychologies for three years. As Head of Psychology and Workplaces and Board Member at Action for Happiness she created the 'Ten Keys to Happier Living' framework which has reached millions of people around the world, as well as other frameworks developed for workplaces and leaders. Vanessa advises and facilitates strategic thinking on embedding the science of wellbeing into organisational eco-systems. Author of four evidence-based accessible books: 10 Keys to Happier Living – A Practical Guide to Happiness (2016, Headline Hachette); Creating the World We Want to Live In – How Positive Psychology Can Help Create a Brighter Future (2021, Routledge); List Happy – 75 activities and reflections to build happiness and wellbeing (2022, Dorling Kindersley), and for children 50 Ways to Feel Happy (Quarto). She has delivered two TEDx talks; a Masterclass for The Guardian and keynotes at: Health & Wellbeing at Work, UK House of Lords, Happiness and It’s Causes(Australia), Wellbeing 360 (Mexico), and World Happiness Summit (WOHASU, US); featured on expert panels for the Guardian, How the Light Gets In, Wilderness and the London Literary Festival. She guest lectures at universities in the UK, Iceland, and Mexico and on the intersection between creativity and wellbeing at TU Delft, Royal College of Art, Ravensbourne and Birmingham City University School of Architecture and has been a tutor at Arvon. Has a joint honours degree in Psychology and Zoology. Early career as a chartered accountant and in HR. Studied positive psychology with Martin Seligman and the world's leading academics in the field, one of the first in the UK to do so.
