About Vanessa P.

My journey to becoming a Human Resources professional was not a straightforward one. I initially started my career as a Graphic Designer, and at first, I thought it was my dream job. I had always loved art and design, so using my imagination to produce aesthetically appealing content was quite fulfilling. For the first few years, I enjoyed my work as a Graphic Designer, while focusing on User Interface and User Experience. However, as time went on, I began to feel less passionate about my job and started to lose confidence in my abilities. It made me realize that even though I enjoy creating, I should focus on playing to my strengths. It was during this time that I discovered a new passion - Human Resources. I had always been interested in how organizations functioned, general planning and coming up with solutions for common issues. As I researched more about Human Resources, I realized that it was the perfect fit for both my interests and skills. At first, I was hesitant to make the switch. After all, I had invested so much time and effort into my career as a Graphic Designer. But I soon realized that it was better to pursue something I was passionate about, rather than to continue down a path that no longer fulfilled me. So, I enrolled in a BCIT Human Resources program, which I intend to conclude by the end of 2023. It was a challenging transition, but I was able to leverage my skills in project management and broaden my horizons about creating a positive and productive work environment and firm-employee relations. While my journey may not have been a straight line, I am grateful for the experiences that led me to where I am today.
