About Vanessa Perry

After many years of experience providing clinical mental health counseling, clinical rehabilitation counseling, clinical supervision, and counselor education, I aspire to transition to a career as a Physician Assistant. While I have always desired a career in medicine, this decision to act comes after much reflection set in motion by the impact of COVID-19 on higher education. I am highly motivated to make this pivot to a different sector of healthcare, with aspirations of beginning a training program immediately. I am happy to report I have applied to several programs. Presently, I am a clinical professor of a CACREP accredited Master of Arts in Counseling Program, which offers Clinical Mental Health, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and School Counseling specializations. I hold current Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credentials. I also possess a CACREP-accredited PhD. I regard myself as an innovative instructor who implements culturally responsive pedagogy and cutting edge instructional technology to teach graduate students. I am a diversity, equity, and inclusion advocate. I am committed to practicing and teaching antiracist counseling, supervision, and counselor education. I proudly mentor Latinx and BIPOC students at an HSI. In my free time, I am a Crisis Counselor with the American Red Cross.
