About Vanja Smailovic

Lead Data Scientist/Engineer with 15 years experience in AI, fintech, manufacturing, telecom and academia. FinTech specialist since 2019.Throughout my professional work career, I've spent a great deal of time bridging the gap between the industry and academia. I'm therefore structured, methodical and scientifically rigorous in my approach as a specialist, but also pragmatic, flexible and fast-paced when necessary. As I'm well-versed in AI, machine learning and statistical analysis, I usually find solace in crunching data, coming up with meaningful conclusions which I base my decisions upon. I'm an effective communicator and team-oriented leader, confident in my ability to share knowledge using clear examples in an easy-to-understand manner, which brings me great joy once it touches people. I've obtained my PhD degree in the field of social network analysis within Data Science in 4.5 years among the top 9% at the University of Zagreb, at the most prestigious faculty in the region. The creative, artistic side of me meets my technical, analytical side in the honors and awards mentioned below. Outside of work I spend time playing guitar and producing music, so feel free to look me up on YouTube.
