About Varun Chandra

I am currently working as a chief officer SDPO on DSVs. I also hold a Nebosh IGC certificate. I have experience on all kinds of DP systems ( kongsberg, bridgemate, Rolls-Royce, L3, Beier radio, Converteam) and have worked on many vessels including AHTS, PSV, ROV, Construction, DSV, Walk to work and Well stimulation. I have worked on all DP class vessels (1,2, & 3). I also have been a DP instructor with Oceans xv institute in delhi where i conducted various DP basic and advanced courses. I want to work with a company where in I can utilize my skills and knowledge and learn even more as the more we learn the better since technology is rapidly changing and systems are evolving and we need to keep ourselves updated. I am sure if given a chance I can prove to be an asset to the company. I have been in charge of DP Operations and Navigation during my watch, Voyage Planning, Cargo operations in port and Cargo Planning. I was also the designated Safety Officer onboard wherein I was incharge of safe operation of the vessel and I worked along with the project HSE officer to ensure all operations onboard are done safely. I was responsible for uplifting the safety standards on all of my vessels. My duties included training the crew on proper use of PPE, Permit To Work system, Toolbox talks, Working at height safety procedures, Job Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessment, Emergency preparedness, Accident / injury prevention and regularly carrying out safety inspections and Hazard Hunts. In the absence of a shift supervisor on many vessels, I headed the pre shift and pre task meetings, coordinating with all the departments ensuring everyone involved in the operations understood the scope of work and how to carry it out productively and safely.
