About Vasile Mocanu

I'm a SQL Server DBA with a strong focus on performance tuning and keeping things running smoothly and efficiently. Over the past 4+ years I've worked with large-scale SQL environments - handling everything from installation and configuration, backups and restores, query optimization and automation to performance tuning and maintenance. I like using PowerShell and dbatools to cut down on repetitive tasks and fix issues before they turn into real problems. I work closely with my DBA colleagues and development teams to troubleshoot performance issues, write T-SQL scripts and procedures, and support deployments using tools like TeamCity for CI/CD. I'm always looking to improve how things are done, whether through better indexing strategies or automating common tasks with scripts. While most of my day-to-day work is in MSSQL, I’m eager to expand my knowledge to other data platforms. I learn quickly and enjoy taking on new tools and tech when the team or project calls for it. If there are tools I haven't worked with directly I’m confident I can pick up the basics quickly when needed. I enjoy learning and adapting based on project needs. My short-medium term goal is to pursue further academic research in SQL Server and database technologies in parallel with my professional growth. I’m currently focused on growing my skills in MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based database management by using platforms like Pluralsight, LinkedIn Learning, conferences recordings and paid classes/tutorials to dive deeper into topics that I am familiar with or that are brand new to me. I enjoy applying new things quickly on the job and am always looking to level up where it helps the team most.
