Partnerships Extensive experience in developing new research partnerships and consortia. Developed the first global consortium in 1998 which is still active today with spin offs, industry funding, research grant success involving a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional approach. Co-developed one of Australia’s first multi-disciplinary/industry focused research consortia in 2001, & developed pan-antiviral consortium in 2022. Using this multi-disciplinary approach, a number of other successful consortia/productive partnerships have been developed over the years, all involving productive industry/Institutes/University partnerships with impact outcomes and developing/training Hons, MSc and PhD students and our future workforce. Currently at VicUni I am developing active and productive partnerships with community, medical research institutes, universities, industry, and philanthropy, as well as developing students, and innovative research with local, national and global impact Leadership I have 30 years experience in various leadership positions Research 30 years experience in research and research training in the area of vaccine formulations development for chronic diseases with translation to clinical trials and commercialisation. My research is multidisciplinary in the areas of, immunology, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, crystallography, neurology, exercise, bio-active compounds, clinical research, community health, epidemiology, drug development. Diseases of expertise, cancer, autoimmunity, infectious diseases, outbreaks, pandemics, lifestyle diseases, mental health and drug addiction - all with an immunological perspective.>500 research publications, H-index=76,>21670 citations (>1845 citations in 2024 thus far), 23 patents,>100 productive collaborations, and a sought after speaker at national and international conferences. I am on the board of a number of high impact journals and organisations, Editor of journals,>100 awards, was an Ambassador for Australia Day and a Patron for a number of organisations. Grant funding >$80M. Teaching/Supervision Extensive experience in teaching undergraduate students. Active supervisor with >100 BSc (Hons), MSc, MD, PhD students (completed and current).
