About Vegard Aksnes

At INAQ, we provide tailored advisory services to the seafood and ocean industries. Our expertise covers strategic development, interim management, business development, transaction support, seafood value chain analysis, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) assessments. I bring over 14 years of experience from SINTEF Ocean (formerly MARINTEK), where I spent the last 9 years as a research manager. In this role, I was responsible for scientific leadership, personnel management, operations, and client relations. I led research teams of up to 25 scientists working on marine structures, marine operations, and aquaculture structures. The primary focus of the research groups was the development of advanced analytical methods and simulation software for marine structures used in offshore wind, oil and gas, floating solar, aquaculture, and coastal infrastructure such as floating bridges. I also coordinated SINTEF Ocean’s activities in renewable energy - spanning offshore wind, floating solar, and wave energy - across all research groups. From 2020 to 2023, I initiated and served as Director of the Centre for Research-based Innovation (SFI) BLUES – Floating Structures for the Next Generation Ocean Industries. SFI BLUES is a long-term (8-year) collaboration between key industry players and research institutions. The centre supports the Norwegian industry in developing next-generation floating structures for renewable energy, aquaculture, and coastal infrastructure. I hold a PhD in Arctic Marine Technology / Marine Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Mathematical Analysis, both from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway.
