About Verena Kuen

Background: As part of the final thesis and fashion collection entitled "Travelling Beyond Seeing" of my fashion design bachelor's degree in Berlin, I dealt with the topic of fashion for the blind. The idea came about through the international project "Beyond Seeing" in cooperation with the Goethe Institute Paris and I dealt with the needs of blind and visually impaired people. The topic of disability was also a large component of a thesis in my subsequent master's degree in Textile Chain Research, because in the academic research paper I explored the question of the extent to which companies can succeed in realising inclusion as part of diversity management. After looking at the potentials and challenges of inclusion and diversity from a business perspective, the Master's thesis looked more closely at the aspect of individualisation, which is extremely relevant in the field of diversity. After my studies, I was able to gain valuable experience as a designer for s.Oliver Red Label Woman for two years. I then decided to do a second Master's degree with the aim of becoming an art teacher to inspire children and young people with art and to work with them to develop their personal strengths and abilities.I'm currently writing my master's thesis, in which I'm exploring the potential of artistic practice for children with autism.I am already working as an art teacher at a grammar school and look forward to pursuing this profession in the long term after completing my studies with developed knowledge and skills in education.
