Background
About Verity Dwan
As a publicist by trade, I have learnt the best way to achieve reputable success in any industry is to empower innovation, inspire trust and create lasting impacts through building authentic brands, engaging communities and connecting people. Kicking off my career in agency, I specialised in corporate communications, content strategy and copywriting, crisis, issues and reputation management, digital PR and social media, traditional media relations and publicity, and stakeholder engagement and community relations for a range of local and national client portfolios within professional services, property infrastructure and development, tourism and education. In recent years, I have been working as a Communications Officer within Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT) Internal Communications team, planning and delivering university-wide projects and a centralised communications strategy for more than students and staff. Building on this experience, I joined the Corporate Communications and Strategic Media team as a Corporate Communications Officer, where I am now leveraging my deep understanding of the university to support high-impact corporate messaging, strategy, and institutional storytelling to reinforce QUT’s brand and presence at a broader level. I have stayed busy adding to my professional tool kit with a Master of Business (Integrated Marketing Communication) and implementing engagement programs as a Queensland Committee Member of ICON APAC (2022-2023), a network for B2B professionals across diverse industries, and as a Committee Member of Future Leaders of Communication (FLOC), a Communications and Public Relations Australia (CPRA) initiative for early-to-mid career communications professionals. I also work as a Sessional Academic for QUT’s Business School, teaching Marketing and Communications and have guest lectured for Marketing and Communication and Introduction to PR undergraduate units.
