About Veronica Allen

I'm an astrochemist turned science communicator with a passion for making complex scientific concepts accessible to learners of all ages. Over the past decade, I've designed and delivered over 50 interactive astronomy lessons for children aged 4–12, mentored more than a dozen high school and undergraduate students in astrochemistry, and collaborated with schools, libraries, and cultural organizations across Europe, the USA, and Africa. My journey has taken me from conducting cutting-edge research at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center to leading a month-long outreach tour across seven cities in South Africa — reaching over 1,200 students and inspiring the next generation of scientists. While my formal academic background is in astrochemistry, my true calling lies in science communication and education. I’ve completed extensive pedagogical training through MOOCs and workshops, focusing on constructivist learning, inclusive assessment, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). I’m especially committed to supporting neurodivergent and multilingual learners, and I integrate these principles into all my educational materials. As someone who thrives at the intersection of science, art, and storytelling, I create visual science communication tools to enhance accessibility and engagement — whether it's for grant proposals, public lectures, or hands-on classroom activities. I’m currently exploring opportunities in teacher education and training, particularly in international settings where interdisciplinary STEM learning, innovation, and inclusivity are central to shaping future educators.
