Background
About Veronica Benjamin
During my doctoral research I learned that challenges can be our greatest source of inspiration, whether they are environmental, cultural, or personal. Despite enjoying the depth of knowledge that results from sustained research into a niche topic, I recently pivoted to community-centered work. In the wake of a local injustice, I co-founded a grassroots response for the victims of two police shooting, both of whom lived with mental illness. In that work I act as a communications manager, event planner, and community liaison. I have administrative and organizational skills gained from working in two libraries which handled volumes in several Indian languages. Currently, I am getting valuable operations experience in my role as a program coordinator. Above all I am an adaptable person and active listener who likes to support the people around me, make connections, and promote meaningful engagement.
