Hi, my name is Veronica, and thanks for visiting my profile! I am currently working with the Durham Catholic District School board as a Permanent Elementary School Teacher. I am certified to teach kindergarten through to grade 10, with a teachable in Health & Physical Education. I have also taken the additional qualification courses of Special Education Part 1 & Teaching English Language Learners Part 1 through OISE, Health & Physical Education (ABQ) through Trent, and lastly, Religious Education Part 1 through Queens University. I completed the Masters of Teaching (Primary/Junior) program at OISE: University of Toronto in June of 2022. I have graduated with distinction, with an Honours Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Early Childhood Studies from the University of Guelph and a diploma in Early Childhood Education from the Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. As an undergraduate student in the field of Early Childhood at the University of Guelph-Humber, I have gained a variety experiences working with children of various age groups, as well as adults, in a variety of settings, including daycare, schools, and hospitals. I am confident in my education, past experiences and transferable skills such as my leadership qualities and organizational skills to help prepare me for a future in the childcare and education field. I offer four years of experience in the Early Childhood field, which has allowed me to gain skills in the following: • Plan and implement learning opportunities for the children based on their interests and encourages growth and development across all domains • Help children and parents work out their emotions and stress through pretend play or therapeutic activities • Observe and document the children’s interests and activities throughout the day My dream is to work with children who have been diagnosed with special needs, or to be a teacher for the junior level grades, or to even teach English abroad. I strive to provide an environment for children, where they are able to learn through exploration and experimentation. By providing this safe space for children and families, I hope to be able to foster meaningful relationships with them, supporting the children individually, as well as the family as a whole.
