About Veronica Gomes

I am an international student majoring in Biochemistry at Vassar College. The scientific perspective of what makes us who we are fascinates me – the cells, molecules, chemical reactions, and electrical signals, all working in tandem to keep us alive, regulated by genes embedded deep within the nucleus of each cell. Understanding these molecular microenvironments and applying this knowledge in the medical field to develop effective and personalized medicine and treatments is the driving force behind my career interests. With my passion for medicine, in combination with my research interests in genetics and bioinformatics, stem cell biology, and human diseases, I hope to go to graduate school after graduation and study the genetics of human diseases in order to apply this knowledge to improve healthcare.
