About Veronica Leon

From Chicago to the San Francisco Bay Area, I am currently a student at Laney College in Oakland, CA earning an AA degree in architecture drafting. As a student, I am hoping to gain some real-world experience in drafting with a Summer 2022 internship. I have past college history in graphic design which I obtained right after high school and then moved to the bay to continue an assortment of graphic design style jobs. Most of my experience was occupied with screen print shops working in the design production team. I also spent time becoming a street artist and doing side jobs on mural projects during the time in between that time and COVID. Since I started school for drafting in Spring 2021, I have been learning many new and interesting things from my classes. However, with all courses being remote, I feel some of the hands-on instruction and experience has been lacking. But I have done my best to learn as much as possible and receive top marks. Mid Spring semester, I feel a lot more knowledgable and feel more confident with Revit, construction materials, and sustainable building. Personally, I value the experience of throwing myself into a professional setting and learning while on the job as I have always had a more ‘hands-on’ style of learning.
