About Veronica Ranucci

Hello everyone, my name is Veronica and I am the founder of WanderAbility! Born and raised in Florence, I have always been enchanted by my city, and over the years, my fascination with its beauty has only grown. I studied Art History and decided to become a tour guide to share my passion with visitors from around the world. Traveling is one of my greatest loves, and I have always shared this passion with my sister Silvia, who has spastic quadriplegia. Exploring the world with her opened my eyes to the challenges people with disabilities face in accessing many places. While working as a tour guide in Florence, I became increasingly aware of how difficult my beloved city could be for people with special needs. Inspired by these experiences, some of my friends and fellow guides in Florence and I founded Libero Accesso, a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing inclusive and special tours for people with disabilities. Through my work with Libero Accesso, I gained invaluable insights and connected with many incredible individuals and other non-profit organizations focused on accessible tourism throughout Italy. I decided to turn this commitment into my full-time career by offering specialized services and experiences to international tourists visiting Italy. And so I created WanderAbility, a tour operator specializing in accessible Tourism. We are dedicated to design inclusive tours, ensuring that every traveller feels welcome and supported, regardless of their specific needs. WanderAbility offers thoughtfully designed inclusive tours that are accessible to everyone and provides services such as- Special bikes (side-by-side tandems) suitable for people with motor and visual disabilities for rental- Rental of Joelette, a special trekking wheelchair for accessible nature walks - Accessible hikes and excursions in nature- Wheelchair rental and other aids catering to individuals with motor disabilities- Busses and vans equipped for disabled people - Tactile supports for individuals with visual impairments- Language Sign Interpreters in LIS (Italian Sign Language) and ASL (American Sign Language)- Babysitting service for families traveling with children- Dogsitting service for travelers accompanied by their four-legged companions- Certified and passionate guides - Private customized tours.
