About Vianca Varma

My favourite thing about science in high school was that it explained the world to me. This made me want to pursue it. To understand the world more. To know it fully, in excruciating detail. My favourite thing about science now, is just how much more there is to find out. During my bachelor’s I completed multiple internships, which allowed me to hone my laboratory skills and learn about industry procedures. I have also been able to contribute to several papers and pursue numerous projects. This experience improved my technical understanding of multiple disciplines including biochemistry, cell biology, evolution, botany, and how they interact with each other. It also refined my research skills and information literacy. In this time, I also pursued a freelance position as a transcriptionist. These jobs required me to develop my time management, organisation, and attention to detail. I believe these skills will aid in building a successful research career in the future, and contribute meaningfully to our advancement of scientific understanding.
