Background

About Vic Chan

A warm welcome to my page! I am a traffic analyst who has experience with the following: Urban Traffic Modelling - Application and calibration of macroscopic and microscopic traffic flow models in Canada and Germany. I am also a competent user of a variaty of traffic modelling software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, AutoTurn, PTV Visum and Vissim, and DLR SUMO. Accessibility Planning - Devising Toronto's mobility design plans for active modes using GIS. Traffic Impact Assessment - Studying and projecting the multimodal traffic in Ontario and Bavaria (Germany) based on intersection, corridor and network scale. Providing bottleneck improvement, parking supply review and intelligent transport systems such as public transport prioritization and traffic signal coordination i.e.'Tidal Flow' plans for better performance. Geographic Information System (GIS)- Spatial, demographical and transport analysis of Toronto, Munich and Düsseldorf. Visualizing and analyzing the catchment areas of public transport and active modes of these cities using Quantum GIS (QGIS). Data Analysis - Cleaning and manipulating raw traffic data sampled by detectors on the A9 motorway in Munich and I80 motorway in Emeryville by Excel, SQL, R and Python. Using the cleaned data for more reliable traffic impact studies. Machine Learning - Using the existing knowledge of physics derived from traffic flow models to incorporate with traditional deep learning method (Physics-Informed Deep Learning). Such model was used to predict the traffic density at the merging section of a motorway with very little ground-truth traffic data. Building Information Model (BIM) Design - Using design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit and for structural, civil and network design. Law of Contract - Connecting engineering contracts with business law of contract, administration of new engineering contracts (NEC). Please contact me at cheukyinchanvic@gmail.com
