About Vichi Luu

Working as a design engineer at Scania CV AB, Södertälje, I have grown to become a strong promoter of the development and utilization of parametric and intelligent CAD models in the product development. Parametric CAD-models are the center pieces for aiding the simulation driven design, which includes Computer Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Thus it also enables Multi-Disciplinary Optimization (MDO) as well as optimization on a system level. The latter does not only include simulation driven design, but also the optimization of multiple components simultaneously with respect to other interesting component properties such as cost, weight and volume etc. My involvement in Scania’s in-house turbocharger has led to the development of intelligent parametric CAD-models of the entire turbocharger, and to their successful usage for balancing different component properties such as performance and mechanical design.
