About Vicki Allen

I was educated in New Zealand to School Certificate level, and then attended Christchurch Technical Institute, where I studied and attained a Diploma in Secretarial and Business Studies, Advanced Pitman’s Typewriting and Grade A Government Typewriting exams. In 2006 I retrained in the UK to update my computer skills attaining the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) qualification as I had been working in a Retail environment for 15 years and it was a requirement to update my computer skills, to return to an office setting. I am competent using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Databases and the Internet. I have had many opportunities to learn new computer software, which I thoroughly enjoy, in numerous office environments i.e. In House Systems, the Department of Education (Teaching Agency), Word Press, Surveys, Mail Merge and more recently here at the University of Manchester, as a Temp in the role as an undergraduate administrator where I have had the opportunity to use Campus Solutions, Blackboard and Turnitin. My experiences and training received working within the retail sector for 15 years from a Checkout Operator to a Duty Manager and 9 years experience in office environments has enhanced my customer service and interpersonal skills. Maintaining a professional attitude and image in all I do, I feel I am approachable, efficient, empathetic and able to communicate confidently and effectively with people from all walks of life. I enjoy working within a team, exercising a positive attitude and able to motivate myself and colleagues to achieve our chosen goals. I especially enjoy training and sharing skills and information. Able to work independently using my own initiative to plan and prioritise and can adapt readily to a changing environment, with excellent time management skills, and attention to detail.
